pool

Lately I think about what a wimp I am becoming, temperature wise. It will get to the high 80's, low 90's out here and I will think gosh its hot! Its going to be shocker to me when I get to AZ this weekend and it is going to be 116 degrees!!!!!!!! Ahhh! Thats when the pool can't cool you off anymore cause the pool is like a bathtub from the sun! Well luckily a friend invited us over for some pool time today (actually Jenny and I kinda invited ourselves) and it was beautiful outside!!
The water temperature was perfect
moms and their kids
prego Jenny and Kate
my kiddos, of course Jack is not in the pool.  The kid is so scared! I need to get him around pools more
Amy, he he he, I love this picture
more mommies and their babies
It was so nice to get out, eat and talk! We need to make this a ritual!

ah poop

So I thought I would be a cool mom and let my kids run around outside naked and play with the hose, wash the cars and what not, boy did that backfire (literally)! While I went inside to cut up some watermelon, both the kids decided to take some massive dumps on the porch. :( So that was fun.

But when I went back inside to throw the poop away, wash my hands and put away the watermelon, I came outside to see another dump on the porch and this time Aubrey had picked it up and it was all over the place!!! Gross, thats when the kids got 'hose baths' outside and were quickly escorted back inside to put their diapers back on.

I hope you know...

about a little something called
thats www.freecycle.org Its a place where people can go (in your community) and recycle their stuff they dont want anymore...for FREE.  You know, one persons junk is another persons treasure.  Well the other day I came upon this treasure.

OFFER: I have a 2 years old, used once, artificial Christmas tree with lights already attached. Just put 3 parts together, and plug in.  Also has artificial pine cones and berries attached. Very pretty.  Just don't have room for it anymore and must see it go this month. You pick up. It comes with a storage bag with rollers and handle, too.

So, I jumped on that offer.  And here is what I picked up.
the bag was HUGE!!!
looks good to me!!!! A lot better than our 2ft tree last year.
I mean, this new tree has GOT to be worth well over $100!!  I am SO excited to put it up.

During the moving of the ginormous tree, a wire was poking out of the bag and I scrapped up my arm pretty good.
I think it was worth getting a nice FREE christmas tree.  And I will continue to check FreeCycle for more free things and post there if I have things to give away! :)

6flags

Sunday a friend e-mailed me and said she had a 'get a friend in for free' pass to Six Flags that needed to be used by the end of June and asked if I wanted to go with her.  Uh...heck yes! Free?! Yes please.  So we packed the kids up Monday morning and ventured out to Vallejo (30 minutes north of us...30 minutes if you dont get lost :) or stuck on a toll bridge )

The first thing we did was to go see the Walrus.  And, oh my, was he huge! It was awesome!

Then we ventured over to Thomas Town to ride a couple 'kiddie' rides.
Waiting in line for the train.
Jenny and Kate. (Jenny is due in like 5 weeks, doesnt she look awesome!)

Then we went to the helicopter rides.  Jenny was the co-pilot.

Next, the sharks.
I really thought Jack was going to LOVE this, but he kinda freaked out at first then warmed up to it.
Jack & Kate
Aubrey checking out the sting ray's.  After that we had lunch and went over to the animal/zoo part and checked out the lions, tigers, giraffe's then dolphins.  We had a blast!!

oldies

My kids have been hooked on 'oldie' cartoons lately.  Jack could watch this movie over, and over again.
And you think he'd be afraid of the headless horseman, but its his favorite part
And he even enjoys Mr Toad too. (which will be nice for when we EVENTUALLY make it to Disney Land, he can have a greater appreciation for Mr Toad's wild ride)
Then Andrew picked up this little Jewel at Best Buy the other day.
And we were cracking up, it was so funny.  They definitely don'tmake cartoons that way any more.  I love them.

sometimes...

I wish I could just run out to the store real quick while my kids are napping.

I know they will be asleep for at least 2 hours.  I'd lock the doors and put out snacks and a movie on just in case.

*sigh* the dilemmas of motherhood

do it up

The days are long and it seems like my craft list is getting longer.  I swear I have over 60 saved sites of crafts I want to do.  They all seem pretty easy, it just means getting out all the supplies, buying more supplies and trying to guard my supplies around kids.

I started out with some felt crafts.  Cheap and easy
to go on top of headbands for Aubrey

Next, quiet books.  Now I have been planning quiet books for years.  Thats right years.  I started back when Jack was just born and bought all the materials but never did anything.  Then I found a blog where she was doing one for her boy, and it inspired me again.  Then a friend of mine just sent me some good links and pics for ideas.  They take a lot more out of you than thought.  Especially if you are trying to make it nice (which is why I'm not done).  I've decided after this one I will just stick to super easy, fast generic type of quiet books.
I started out sketching a couple of pages I knew I wanted to do.
4 green and speckled frogs.  still has work to do
Ocean page.  still has work to do.

Then I got side tracked again.  I have really gotten into sewing again lately.  And my sewing machine is by no means nice.  Its old, unknown name, discontinued brand, and missing parts.
Yes, I am using a straw to hold my thread spool in place
Lets just say I am ready for a new machine.  While sewing lately it has been messing up a lot.  Sometimes it cant even do the normal straight stitch without messing up.  And its frustrating because projects I have done take a lot longer than I know I can do, cause I am constantly picking out thread, re-threading and trouble shooting.  But luckily enough I can still put out some fun items.
apron for some girlfriends who recently had birthdays
i-pod holder for when I go running. I know its not perfect, I was just trying to whip one up in a hurry.  Under 30 minutes
I used head bands for the straps, some tent like material I had, thin vynl and velcro.  I was pretty proud of myself.
more flower crap to put on headbands or for a brooch
eye-spy bag.  again this is just a quick test run.  I dont even really have that many trinkets in there and I just wanted to see if my kids would even be interested before I devoted more time to it.
then i found this shirt thing in aubreys drawer yesterday, and I though hey, I could totally make a skirt out of this and it would get used a lot more.
So....

and then my rotary mat got warped in my car and I was really NOT wanting to have to throw it out.  I though it would be a waste. so I researched and found that you can just throw it onto some hot concrete and let it 'bake' in the sun.  Finally this week it has gotten into the 90's.  And, voila! It fixed right up! Yay

Aubrey bobries

I came outside this morning to find you sitting on the table with your toothbrush in your mouth.  You are obsessed with your toothbrush right now.
